Corporate Partners for a Hunger-Free Maine Collectively Donated More Than 27 Million Meals Across the State in 2025

Corporate Partners for a Hunger-Free Maine is a group of socially responsible businesses and corporate foundations that support Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine’s mission through monetary gifts and/or food donations. These committed corporate donors are essential partners in providing nutritious meals to neighbors facing food insecurity and ensuring that everyone in Maine has access to the healthy food they need to thrive.

In 2025, 142 Corporate Partners helped provide more than 27 million meals to neighbors across the state. The Food Bank measures impact in meals to honor the variety of ways Corporate Partners contribute with financial and food donations.

In April, Good Shepherd Food Bank held breakfast events with its Corporate Partners at the Portland Holiday Inn by the Bay and their Hampden Distribution Center to bring together business leaders with a common interest in supporting Maine communities. Speakers Heather Paquette, President of Good Shepherd Food Bank, Elise Baldacci, President of Maine Credit Union League, René Colson, Executive Director of Healthy Island Project, and Megan Shapiro-Ross, Executive Director of Footprints Food Pantry led conversations around the challenges that Good Shepherd Food Bank and its network of 600 partners are facing, and how business leaders are poised to be impactful allies.

“Support from Maine’s business community has a great impact on our work and the lives of neighbors across the state. Their commitment and partnership were felt even more this past year as companies stepped up to support the Food Bank when we faced compounding challenges and urgent needs.” Said Georgia Jenkins, Director of Community Philanthropy.

Beginning in the spring last year, federal food and funding cuts came as a surprise to hunger relief organizations across Maine and the new federal reconciliation budget, passed in the summer, spurred new work requirements and eligibility changes for thousands of Maine households receiving SNAP. Amplified by high costs of living, food pantries across the state are seeing increased visits from neighbors, many for the first time.

In addition to financial support and food donations, corporate employees provided more than 2,200 hours of volunteer service to Good Shepherd Food Bank in 2025, sorting food and packing boxes to help distribute over 40 million meals annually, across the state.
