Corporate Partners for a Hunger-Free Maine is a group of socially responsible businesses and corporate foundations that support Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine’s mission through monetary gifts and/or food donations. With support from these like-minded businesses, the Food Bank is able to provide nutritious meals to neighbors facing food insecurity and ensure that everyone in Maine has access to the healthy food they need to thrive.
In 2024, 116 Corporate Partners helped provide more than 25 million meals to neighbors across the state. The Food Bank measures the impact in meals to honor the various ways Corporate Partners contribute.
“As we continue to see rates of hunger rise, Corporate Partners show their dedication to food security in Maine by giving generously and finding unique ways to further their support,” stated Georgia Jenkins, Corporate and Foundation Relations Officer. “With hunger currently at a ten-year high and our funding at a five-year low, partnership with Maine’s business community is more important than ever.”
On April 2, Good Shepherd Food Bank held a breakfast for Corporate Partners at the Holiday Inn by the Bay. Heather Paquette, President of Good Shepherd Food Bank, Robin McCarthy, Chief Advancement Officer, and Shannon Coffin, Community Partnerships Officer led a discussion about the state of hunger in Maine and the importance of the organization’s Corporate Partners.
The Food Bank also recognizes its Transformational Partner, Hannaford Supermarkets, for their exceptional partnership and commitment to Mainers experiencing food insecurity. In the last four years, Hannaford Supermarkets donated over 50 million meals in the combined value of monetary gifts, as well as food donations through their retail stores and their product recovery center.
“Hannaford has been with us since the very beginning and is one of our closest partners, with their relationship spanning nearly every department of the organization. Simply put, they are instrumental in our work and that of our network of community partners,” said Jenkins.
“The impact of Good Shepherd Food Bank on communities throughout our state is truly unmatched,” said Sherri Stevens, Community Impact Manager at Hannaford Supermarkets. “At Hannaford, we’re honored by this recognition and proud to support Good Shepherd’s mission to combat food insecurity by expanding access to the fresh, nutritious food that families need to thrive. We’re deeply committed to this partnership as we work together to end hunger in Maine.”
