Apple Corps

A Volunteer Recognition Program

Apple Corps is a volunteer recognition and ambassador program. It honors volunteers for their service to the food bank, recognizes volunteer leaders, and supports food bank ambassadors within the community.

Apple Corps Volunteer Program

Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Apple Corps program publicly recognizes our dedicated volunteers after reaching the following hourly milestones:

  • Cortland, donating over 100 hours in one year
  • McIntosh, donating over 200 hours in one year
  • JoAnn Pike Volunteer Service Award honors volunteers who have acquired 500 hours of service

  • The Cortland and McIntosh levels are earned based on the hours served in 1 year, while the JoAnn Pike Volunteer Service Award is awarded to volunteers who have completed 500 or more hours in their time with the food bank.
  • Volunteer hours are eligible starting January 1, 2021, and will be assessed quarterly.
  • Volunteer eligibility for these awards will be confirmed through recorded hours on the volunteer database.
  • Hours will not be included for hours required for court, a compensated job training program, or national service programs.

Apple Corps Ambassador Program:

Currently, Misty Coolidge is serving as the first food bank Apple Corps Ambassador. She is immersing herself in the Feeding America community, educating others on food insecurity and sharing her journey through a series of blog and social media posts. Blog posting can be seen here.
